Method 4- Choose Sound Effect

Click to choose the check box to “Play a sound” in the section which says “Alert me by”. There is a triangle button to check the alert. You can click on the “Browse” button to find the WAV file. The “Pick an Alert Sound” box will open with the files list that includes “flash”, “beep” and “yodel”. Click on the preferred file and click on “Open” and this dialog box will close then.

Note: You can check this sound by clicking on the triangle icon on the “Yahoo Messenger Preferences” dialog box and clicking on “Ok”. From now onwards the incoming message will activate an alert there.
